New parking charges for TTDI dropped

The newly imposed increase in the city’s parking rates has been scrapped for Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) area, following heavy objections from the public.

The move comes into effect immediately, The Star Online reported.

According to the news site, the revision was made after a meeting between  City Hall and Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today.

“After taking in the views of all parties, City Hall had decided to revert the parking charges at TTDI since it is a residential township,” he was quoted as saying.

The new charges — which go up by 150 percent in Kuala Lumpur’s central business district (CBD) — was announced on Monday.

The new rates affect Bukit Bintang, Bukit Damansara, Sri Hartamas, Desa Hartamas, Solaris Mont Kiara and Bangsar, where it was reported that parking lots operated by the KL City Hall (DBKL)  are taken up by 75 to 100 percent during peak hours.

The new rates are RM2 for the first hour (from the previous 80sen), RM3 for the second hour and RM3 for subsequent hours.
