New parking charges: Four areas may get reduced rates

Soon after it was announced that parking rates in the city would be raised 150%, authorities scrapped the new rates for Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) following a public outcry.

It was then reported that Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor wanted to review the status of several areas in the city which were designated as falling under the KL’s central business district (CBD).

Yesterday, The Star Online‘s Bavani M. reported that parking rates in at least four areas — marked as high-traffic zones in the CBD — may be reduced by between 25% and 50%.

The areas reportedly include Bangsar, Sri Hartamas and Solaris Mont Kiara, which were initially under the CBD.

According to the report, the government decided to review the rates after public complaints that the new rates were too high.

The Star Online said an official announcement from Tengku Adnan would be made soon.
