New LRT stations along Kelana Jaya and Ampang lines open today

The extended LRT lines for Kelana Jaya and Ampang have opened today, connecting zones in Subang Jaya, Puchong and Shah Alam.

The RM8bil project, which adds 12 new stations along the Kelana Jaya line and three on the Ampang line, runs 46.4 kilometres and is all set to benefit some 300,000 commuters in densely populated areas.

“There has been much more development along the lines since it was first planned in 2009 and thus have increased the density of population along the routes,” Kumpulan Prasarana (M) Bhd president and chief executive officer Azmi Abdul Aziz told The Star Online.

“These developments will create more economic activity and we expect the economic impact of the projects to increase by 20% than projected earlier,” he was quoted further.

New stations on the Kelana Jaya line are Lembah Subang, Ara Damansara, Glenmarie, Subang Jaya, SS15, SS18, USJ 7, Taipan, Wawasan, USJ 21, Alam Megah and Subang Alam.

The line will begin from Kelana Jaya station and pass through the new stations, including Ara Damansara, Subang Jaya and USJ before ending at Putra Heights Integrated Station, covering a distance of 17.4km.

On the Ampang line, the new stations are Puchong Perdana, Puchong Prima and Putra Heights. The line begins at Sri Petaling and passes through Kinrara, Puchong, and ends at Putra Heights.

Earlier this month, four stations along the Ampang line — IOI Puchong Jaya, Pusat Bandar Puchong, Taman Perindustrian Puchong and Bandar Puteri — began operations, serving 130,000 commuters in the area.

All stations will be also be equipped with Universal Access facilities such as ramps, tactile tiles, low ticket counters and toilets for people with disabilities.
