Newly appointed Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali has denied claims of an alleged draft charge sheet against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The Star Online reports Mohamed Apandi as saying in a statement that a Sarawak Report allegation that Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail’s tenure had come to an abrupt end because he was preparing to take action against Najib, was false.
“The alleged charge sheets are not in and never reached the Attorney-General’s Chambers. Furthermore, the format of the sheets is not correct or written by our Chambers,” he was quoted as saying.
“The Special Task Force investigation has not been completed. So it is not legally possible for charge sheets to be drafted in advance,” he was quoted further by English daily.

He added that the alleged charge sheets point towards a ‘conspiracy to topple a serving PM’.
“This plot represents a threat to Malaysia’s democracy and I will direct for all action possible to be taken to investigate. The full force of the law will be applied without exception to any that are found guilty,” he said.
Mohamed Apandi had earlier said that Gani’s removal was constitutional and that the move no longer required a tribunal to decide on his service.
The Malaysian Insider quoted him as saying: “”Under the existing Clause (5) of Article 145, the Attorney-General holds office during the pleasure of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. In the interest of the administration of justice, it is important that the public is not misled into thinking otherwise.”
