Nazir Razak laments that Malaysians under his brother’s leadership are “truth-deprived”

Nazir Razak, chairperson of the CIMB banking group, younger brother of Prime Minister Najib Razak, and of late an increasingly loud voice for acountability and reason from within the Federal Government, once again took to social media to call out the dire straits of Malaysians.

In a post to his personal Instagram account, Nazir showed a pretty blunt image of a highway exit pointing to “Truth”, and said that Malaysians are now depressed and divided over what he termed as their being “truth deprived”:

He also called for Malaysian institutions to work to rectify that truth deficit for Malaysians, and expressed hope that national reconciliation would come in the wake of full disclosure.

Nazir has been increasingly critical of his brother’s administration, calling into question several times the practices and statements of sovereign development fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

On June 17, we reported that Nazir was rumoured to hve been forming a new political party, to be fronted by former Deputy Minister of Higher Education Saifuddin Abdullah.

Nazir dismissed the rumour, saying that he was mulling the formation of a Malaysian NGO aimed at fostering open debate and sharing of ideas. He did admit that Saifuddin was indeed involved in that process.
