Put. The. Spoon. Down: Malaysia has been rated as Asia’s most obese country.
The Prime Minister’s Science Advisor, Tan Sri Zakri Abdul Hamid, said new findings published by the British medical journal The Lancet showed that that 49% of Malaysia women and 44% of Malaysian men were certifiably obese.
“This is a very big problem because it has implication on diabetes, heart problem and others and our Prime Minister has also asked the global science and innovation advisory council to work on this,” he told The Star Online.
The findings of the study published by The Lancet also stated that 45.3% of the Malaysian population was rated as being heavyweight, far outweighing (pun intended) South Korea (33.2%), Pakistan (30.7%) and China (28.3%).
