The Taiwanese hip-hop group that performed with Malaysian rapper Namewee in the controversial “Oh My God” music video claimed that the unedited version was leaked online.
The manager of the group called Jiu Yi Yi told Taiwanese newspaper Apple Daily, which was cited by Malaysiakini, that the official finished version of the music video had deleted “inappropriate scenes”.
“After the first version of MV was out, we did cut some inappropriate scenes.
“We don’t know who leaked it out. Perhaps we need to investigate this. We respect the local culture,” the manager was quoted as saying.
The manager also told the daily that they did not expect the music video to cause such a big problem in Malaysia, and they certainly did not expect Namewee to get arrested.
“We are very worried about Namewee. All of us are good friends.
“We don’t know his current situation. We have not been able to contact him at the moment and we continue to worry about him,” he was further quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Ghafar Rajab told local daily Malay Mail Online that the police will enlist the help of the Interpol to locate the members of the hip-hop group.
“Investigation is on-going and we will get assistance from Interpol to find the three men to record their statements,” Abdul Ghafar was quoted as saying.
Earlier this month, several NGOs lodged police reports over the music video, which they claimed insulted Islam and other religions.
That resulted in the 33-year-old rapper being arrested by the police the moment he stepped foot in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport after returning from Singapore on Sunday.
