News of two Malaysians who reportedly killed more than 30 people in separate suicide bombings in Iraq and Syria has left Prime Minister Najib Razak pretty upset.
In a Facebook post today, the PM said he was ‘shocked and appalled’ to hear of the news.
“We will spare no effort to find out how and why these young men were able to commit these atrocious acts, and will take all measures necessary to prevent others from doing so in the future,” he wrote.
Najib added that these actions had no place in Malaysia or Islam and that the government would continue to fight terrorism, at home and abroad.
The New Straits Times today reported that the two Malaysians — Terengganu-born Mohd Amirul Ahmad Rahim, 26 and Mohamad Syazwan Mohd Salim, 31, — has carried out attacked that killed 33 people last week.
Mohd Amirul had reportedly detonated the bombs placed on his body while inside a car during clashes in Raqqa, Syria on Dec 29.
Mohd Syazwan meanwhile, was reportedly one of seven suicide bombers who entered a police training centre at the Speicher military base near Baghdad, Iraq on Jan 3.
