A mobile application to check on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) imposed on over 10,000 items is now available to the public.
The app — called the MyKira GST — allows buyers to find out if they’re being unfairly charged.
“Consumers can check the prices of goods in three steps (via MyKira GST). All complaints filed via e-aduan will be promptly sent to the enforcement team,” Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek told Bernama.
The app can be downloaded for free for both Android and iOS this week.
According to Hasan, the Anti-Profiteering Operation Centre (PGAP) will act on complaints immediately. Offenders, he said, would face action under the Price Control Act and the Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
“Complaints about weight and price tag can be acted upon immediately but for profiteering, it takes some time as we need to conduct investigation,” he was quoted further.
Complaints can also be filed through its hotline at 1-800-886-800 or 03-8882-6245 and 03-8882-6088.
