It’s a time-honoured tradition to pack up and head back to one’s hometown every time Hai Raya rolls around – the bus ticket shortages and massive traffic jams on the PLUS highway should testament enough to balik kampung’s cultural hold on us.
But for cityfolk, there’s always another way. Bintang Malam Entertainment signees Diandra Arjunaidi and duo Hani & Zue team up for “KotaRaya”, an ode to celebrating Aidilfitri right where you are, and making the most out of having a (relatively) empty city all to yourself.
It’s all sweetly harmonised and should bring up a tear or two for KL kids who grew up with no other hometown than the urban jungle. Look on the bright side: with everyone else leaving town, there might even be a shorter line at the A&W PJ Drive-In this Hari Raya!
