A man was slashed and shot to death in Jalan Klang Lama, in the wee hours of yesterday morning.
The attack, which happened at around 5am, saw security firm operations manager M Kesavan murdered by assailants wielding parangs and a firearm.
Brickfields district police chief ACP Muhammad Azlee Abdullah told Ushar Daniele of The Malay Mail Online that police received a report from a witness to the attack at 5.45am.
“The victim was eating at a stall at 4.30am and stepped away at 5am to answer a phone call,” he said.
“While he was on the phone near the stall, three men wearing helmets attacked him.”
The witness reported that Kesavan ran towards a convenience store, with his assailants pursuing not far behind.
“The cashier in the convenience store locked the door out of fear and seconds later, a gunshot was heard,” Muhammad Azlee said.
Kesavan was shot in the head from the front, with the exit wound located in the back of his head. He was also found with slash wounds on the back of his head, under his right ear, and on his back.
Police forensics investigators found a 9mm bullet slug and a brown bag at the scene of the crime.
A cursory check on Kesavan’s body showed that he had a tattoo of a tiger on left arm, a pyramid tattoo on his back, and a flower tattoo on his left chest. No information was given on the possibility that these tattoos denoted underworld affiliations.
Muhammad Azlee added that Kesavan did not have a criminal record.
