Muhyiddin: “I know as much about 1MDB as you do”

One day after being removed from his post as Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin told reporters eagerly waiting outside his residence in Damansara Heights that he knows very little about 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), the divigin wedge between him and Prime Mninister Najib Razak.

“What I know is from previously mentioned sources and some other material that I refer to.

“What I know about 1MDB maybe a bit more than what you guys know,” he said to members of the press outside his house today, as quoted by The Malay Mail Online‘s Kamles Kumar.

Muhyiddin had earlier claimed to be in the dark about the inner workings of the sovereign development fund, and that other ministers in the Cabinet were likewise kept out of the loop by Najib, who as Finance MInister has 1MDB directly under his purview.

Today, Muhyiddin added that a factsheet handed to him on 1MDB shed some light on the company and the controversies surrounding it, but not by much.

“Even though we got the information from the factsheet it is not enough cause such an issue needs more than a factsheet.

“Hence, why I needed info from various info and get feedback to help me understand and resolve the issue.”

This was the first time Muhyiddin had spoken on the 1MBD issue since his termination as DPM yesterday afternoon, and the most he has said on the matter since delivering a speech on Sunday night at a Cheras UMNO function, in which he urged Najib to explain directly to the rakyat the details of the 1MDB case.
