A 75-year-old man’s risky illegal U-turn move ended up with him getting punched in the face.
According to a report by The Star Online, the incident happened at around 9am on Sunday when Khoo Boon Khang allegedly made the U-turn along Jalan Abdul Rahman in Muar, Johor.
Another driver who was behind him couldn’t stop in time and reportedly rammed into his car.
A friend of Khoo’s told the news portal that Khoo was heading to a workshop to get his Perodua Viva fixed but when he saw that the workshop was closed, he reportedly decided to make a U-turn to return home.
That was when the alleged accident happened.
Despite Khoo apologising, the other driver, a man in his 40s, reportedly got angry and allegedly punched him in the face.
The friend told The Star Online that he was passing by the area when he saw Khoo talking to the other driver, bleeding profusely.
“I was shocked to see the bloodstains on his shirt and immediately approached him.
“I initially thought that he was injured during a car accident,” the friend was quoted as saying.
The friend then immediately took Khoo to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital where he received 20 stitches to close a wound on his upper lip.
Khoo then reportedly lodged a police report.
Meanwhile, Muar OCPD Asst Comm Azman Ayob confirmed that police have arrested the other driver to facilitate investigations.
According to ACP Azman, the suspect is being investigated for voluntarily causing grievous hurt and criminal intimidation.
