Mother, toddler critically injured in highway crash

A woman and her eight-month-old toddler were critically injured when an out-of-control trailer crashed into the car they were in on Monday.

According to The Star Online, the incident happened at 1.30pm on KM28.6 of the Elite Highway.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Ali said Nur Izdihar Ishak told the news portal that the driver of the trailer was heading from KLIA to Putrajaya when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and skidded onto the opposite carriageway before crashing into a lorry and the Honda Jazz the victims were in.

28-year-old Nur Izdihar Ishak and her son Muhmad Aisy Farhan Abdul Muhaimin, who were passengers in the Honda, were critically injured in the collision.

The child’s father, 29-year-old Abdul Muhaimin Yahaya, escaped with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the trailer reportedly suffered head injuries. The lorry driver and his co-driver also suffered light injuries.   

They were sent to the Putrajaya Hospital for treatment.
