A toddler is dead after her mother accidentally left the two-year-old in her hot car at a college car park for four hours.

The incident occurred Wednesday at a Port Dickson college where the mother is a member of staff. She had reportedly intended to bring her daughter to work with her, but instead managed to forget as her routine was to usually leave her with a child-minder.

Police say she parked her Proton Saga, locked the car, and left the child inside.

The victim was left by her 32-year-old mother in the parking lot at 9am, and the mother only realized that her child was missing at 1pm. She reportedly rushed to the car, but the tot was already unconscious.

She then rushed her daughter to a nearby clinic where officials pronounced her dead.

The case has since been referred to the Port Dickson Hospital, and is being investigated by police in violation of the Child Act 2001; however, it is unclear whether she will face any criminal charges.
