If you’ve developed a taste for the Lindy Hop, the throwback dance from the bootlegging, moonshining 1920’s that has taken hold in KL, you might want to get yourself to Tate at The Intermark this Wednesday night for Mafia Swing.
Featuring a hybrid electro-swing playlist by DJ French Chris, a retinue of live musicians and an honest-to-goodness antique gramophone, you’ll be able to hop on the throwback train and live in the Prohibition Era – minus the tommy guns and flatfoots busting your chops for having a glass of booze in your hand.
Mafia Swing’s dress code is 20s Hedonism and Gangsters & Gals, so get your fedoras and pinstripes, and long-string pearls out. Lindy KL members (you know, the guys from our For the Love of Lindy photo essay!) get in free with a flash of the group’s official badge. Swing virgins get in for RM30, and Tate will throw in a Moscow Mule or a bottle of beer.
