A female body has been found near the crash site of the helicopter that went missing on Thursday.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department director Nor Hisham Mohammad confirmed the discovery with The Star Online, saying: “At 1200 hours, the Fire and Rescue Department located the body of a female victim not far from where debris was found.”
The search and rescue team found debris from the missing helicopter at 9.50am.
Although the identity of the victim has yet to be determined and the passenger manifest yet to be confirmed, it is believed that Plantation Industries and Commodities Deputy Minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon and her husband Asmuni Abdullah were on the flight en route to Kuching from Bentong.
Four other passengers are also believed to be on-board: Kuala Kangsar MP Sundaran Annamalai, Malaysian Palm Oil Board member Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad and his bodyguard Ahmad Sobri Harun as well as the pilot, Captain Rudolf Rex Ragas.
