Missing 64-year-old found alive in Baling forest after nine days

A senior citizen who was reported missing nine days ago, was found this morning inside a forest.

According to a New Straits Times report, 64-year-old Haron Yaacob — who was found by a search and rescue team at 10.41am today — had lost his way home and somehow wandered into the forest.

He was reportedly in there for several days, surviving on fruits and leaves.

“Haron was weak and tired. We carried him out of the forest and sent him to the Baling Hospital for treatment,” rescue operation commander Mohd Sufian Alias told the daily.

The NST reported that Haron, of Kampung Keda, Kampung Telok Teduri, near Baling, Kedah, was last seen entering an oil palm and rubber plantation on July 27 at 4pm.

Four days later, his family reportedly contacted the Fire and Rescue Department to look for him.
