A schoolgirl from Miri was forced to jump out of a moving vehicle to avoid getting raped by two youths she recently befriended.
According to a report by The Star Online, the incident reportedly happened on Monday when the 16-year-old girl took a joy ride with the two suspects, believed to be drop-outs.
However, the Form Four student noticed something was amiss when they drove to a secluded place in Kuala Baram.
When she asked the youths to turn around and drive her home instead, the suspects reportedly ignored her and continued driving to the secluded place.
She then reportedly opened the car door and leapt out of the moving car when the youths started “disturbing” her.
When the suspects realised that the girl was hurt, they reportedly drove her to the Miri Hospital and left her there.
The girl reportedly suffered a broken leg in the incident and she is currently recuperating at the hospital.
Meanwhile, city police chief Asst Comm Khoo Leng Huat confirmed that the girl’s father had lodge a report and the police have arrested a suspect at a budget hotel.
ACP Khoo added that the case has been classified as attempted rape.
