The devastating Nepalese earthquake last Saturday has left almost 2,000 people dead, and even more stranded in Kathmandu and other parts of the Himalayan country – including Malaysian-born Hollywood star Michelle Yeoh and her husband, Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) president Jean Todt.
The FIA on Sunday released a statement explaining that following its Asia-Pacific Sport Regional Congress in Kathmandu, several of its members were left stranded in the Nepalese capital following the 7.9 earthquake, including Todt and Yeoh.
The Star Online reports that the FIA statement added that all its members and Congress delegates in Kathmandu were safe and accounted for.
Yeoh shot to international stardom after starring in Ang Lee’s 2000 movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which was met with Oscar noms and critical acclaim.
The Ipoh-born actress had migrated to the Hong Kong movie industry in the mid-80s, after being crowned Miss Malaysia in 1983.
