MH370: suitcase found near plane debris on Reunion Island

The tattered remains of what seems to be a suitcase have been found close to where aircraft debris, suspected of being from missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, were discovered on Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean.

The Canbera Times reports that the discovery of the badly damaged suitcase was announced on Twitter by journalist Julien Delarue, who writes for the local Journal de L’île de la Réunion newspaper, less than a day after islanders found the two-metre long piece of wreckage.

Another tweet by journalist Antoine Forestier shows a local man holding up the tattered suitcase:

Flight MH370 went missing in the early hours of March 8, 2014, after it took off from KLIA en route to Beijing. A massive multinational search operation was conducted across several regions as investigators sought in vain to pinpoint its possible final trajectory.
