Malaysian fishermen trawling off the coasts of Terengganu, Kelantan, Perlis, Perak and Penang have been asked to be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary, and to help in the Search and Rescue (SAR) operations for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.
Director General of the Fisheries Development Authority, which is an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry, Datuk Mohd Khazin Hamzah, requested fishermen working in the current search areas to immediately report anything strange they find to the authorities.
He said the same request has been forwarded to the authority’s conterparts in Thailand and Vietnam.
To date, however, there have been no reports from the fisheries sector of sightings relevant to the search for Flight MH370.
