MH370: Cops go after Twitter user for ‘conspiracy’ remark

A Twitter user who replied to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s condolence tweet yesterday by suggesting that a conspiracy — and not an accident — was behind the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, is now being investigated by police.

Najib had tweeted: “Today my thoughts are with the families of those on MH370. The search will continue. Msia, Aus & China remain committed to finding the plane.”

To this, a user named Fazel with the handle @ollie_mollie replied with this: “@NajibRazak jib jib..it’s not an accident, it’s a conspiracy.”

Today, the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar revealed that he has ordered the Police Cyber Investigation Response Centre (PCIRC) to identify the user.

Khalid tweeted: “PCIRC @PDRMsia Sila kesan dan siasat ‘Fazel’ di bawah ini.. (PCIRC @PDRMsia Please track down and investigate ‘Fazel’ ).” along with a screenshot of the reply by Fazel.

Khalid later told the New Straits Times that such a reply was posted with bad intent. “We are trying to calm them (next-of-kin of MH370) down. So if you do not know what is really going on with MH370, do not be an ‘itchy mouth’(by) saying something senseless and uncorroborated by evidence,” the daily quoted Khalid as saying.
