China’s air force is adding two planes to the ongoing Search and Rescue (SAR) operations for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, according to Li Jiaxiang, chairman of the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
He added that SAR efforts will be extended to include land areas.
The investigation into the disappearance of Flight MH370, which went off the radar last Saturday morning, enters its fifth day, even as Thai and Vietnamese authorities have announced they are freezing their search efforts for the time being, due to changing search areas based on newly revealed information as to the aircraft’s last known location and trajectory. The absence of a formal investigation structure operating on UN-sanctioned rules is also taking its toll on the search operations and are raising tensions between the countries involved in the operations.
