Prime Minister Dartuk Seri Najib Tun Razak called on Malaysians to come together as one nation to observe a minute of silence today in honour of the victims of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.
After a month-long identification process, the first 20 remains of Flight MH17’s victims will be arriving at the Bunga Raya Complex of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport this morning, on what has been declared the Nartional Day of Mourning.
The official ceremony honouring Flight MH17’s victims will also be held at the Bunga Raya Complex. He and Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will accompany the Yang di-Pertua Agong Tuanku Abul Halim Mu’adzam Shah in leading the nation to pay last respects to the victims. Cabinet ministers and senior government officials will also be present at the ceremony.
Najib said a nationwide minute of silence will be observed, and that the exact time will be announced through official state-owned radio and television channels.
