Member of Parliament goes viral with post praying to heavens to get potholes fixed

When all else fails, there’s no shaming like social media shaming.

Malaysian Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, and Member of Parliament, Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, had been pleading with the district council in Tangga Batu, Melaka to repair massive potholes along the town’s main road.

His pleas fell on deaf ears, leaving him no other option than to pray to the heavens for divine intervention.

Uploading a photo of himself next to one of the potholes yesterday, he captioned the photo:

“At 10.40 in the morning, I prayed that the mayor, district officers or members of parliament will come to see the potholes on Jalan Bukit Berliang that are continuously getting bigger.”

“I pray that these officials use their power to get this road fixed before a Tangga Batu resident gets hurt. Dear God, please answer my prayers. We have to continuously take care of our environment. The residents of Tangga Batu will always be in my heart.”

His prayers were answered in the form of hundreds of shares, 1,500 reactions. Within 12 hours the district was at work, fixing the holes in question.

Members of Parliament: They’re just like us – can’t seem to get their local roads sorted, and need at least a couple hundred retweets to get anything done.
