Members of the press were told they were not allowed to enter Parliament today, as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) was making its final deliberations on its investigation into beleagured sovereign investment fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Astro Awani‘s Harits Asyraf Hasnan also reported that repesentatives of the media at the Parliament building were informed that PAC chairperson Hasan Arifin would not be holding a press conference after the proceedings.
The PAC’s probe into alleged malfeasance and wrongdoing within and surrounding 1MDB began last May, and will end with hearings with former 1MDB presidents Mohd Bakke Salleh and Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi today.
The press were previously barred from covering the PAC’s proceedings on 1MDB when the committee called for 1MDB’s current president, Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
