The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is cooperating with the Royal Malaysian Police to track down the owner of the YouTube account “isis malaysia 69”, which recently released a video threatening to carry out fireworks attacks on Malaysian courthouses, in protest against the country’s “failed”democractic system.
MCMC chairman Dr Halim Shafie said to Bernama, “Whatever help is needed we will provide. We are already in touch with the police and cooperating with them.”
Bukit Aman Crime Investigation Department director Mohamad Salleh said the PDRM would work with the MCMC to indentify the owner of the YouTube account, and take legal action under Section 124C of the Penal Code for offences affecting Malaysia’s parliamentary democracy.
“The individual is also liable for legal action under the Special Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA),” he said yesterday.
