A ‘mat rempit’ (scientific name: stupidus maximus) has been placed under arrest for ramming into a Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) policeman in Kemaman last Friday.
Kemaman Police chief Supt Mohd Said Ibrahim told Bernama that the 24-year-old man surrendered himself at 4pm on Saturday.
According to reports, the incident happened at around 4.55am on Friday when 27-year-old Lance Corporal Mohd Daud Abd Shukor was rammed into by the ‘mat rempit’ while patrolling with two other colleagues. He sustained injuries to his hands and is in stable condition at the Kemaman Hospital.
The police are also looking into the possibility that the suspect was involved in motorcycle thefts in the district. The ‘mat rempit’ also tested positive for methamphetamine.
