Masseuses hide in ceiling in attempt to escape raid

A group of Thai female masseuses went to great lengths in an attempt to escape arrest by state immigration officers —  they hid inside the ceiling of the massage centre they worked in.

The plan, however, did not work.

The New Straits Times reports that the five women — aged between 29 and 42 —  were eventually caught at a massage centre in Alor Setar on Tuesday night.

“Some of the women tried to escape arrest by hiding inside the ceiling but they were caught,” enforcement division chief Mohd Shahrir Khalil was quoted as saying.

Five of the eight people arrested in the operation were found to have no valid work permits.
