MAS drops 10 spots in latest airline rankings

The nation’s official airline, Malaysia Airlines Berhand (MAS), is now ranked 34th in the world according to the 2016 World Airlines Awards published by Skytrax.

According to The New Straits Times, the latest ranking saw MAS dropping ten places from the year before, when it was ranked 24th.

Emirates Airlines topped this year’s list, edging out last year’s winners Qatar Airways, with Singapore Airlines rounding up the top three.

Our low-cost carrier AirAsia, meanwhile, went up two spots in this year’s list, occupying the 23rd spot.

In fact, AirAsia even won the “World’s Best Low-Cost Airlines” award, beating the likes of Virgin America and Norwegian to the title. AirAsiaX, meanwhile, placed sixth in the category.

AirAsiaX also won the “Best Low Cost Airline Premium Seat” award.

The Skytrax awards, dubbed the “Oscars of the aviation industry”, is a consumer-focused rankings of the world’s airline industry and is known as the global benchmark of airline excellence.
