Marina Mahathir isn’t campaigning for Dyana Sofya, says both BN and PR failed women

Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir took to her Twitter account to clarify her position on DAP’s candidate for the Teluk Intan by-election and new household name Dyana Sofya Mohd.

Despite her Facebook post on Monday praising the 27-year old political secretary to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and lawyer for her abilities and political ambitions, the daughter of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is not stumping for the candidate, or the party Dyana represents:

She goes on to remind her Twitter followers that both the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) and federal opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalitions had “failed women” by having women candidates make up less than 10% of the total fielded during the 13th General Elections last year:

… and sure, why not put in a plug for 3R: Respect, Relax, Respond, the young women’s empowerment TV programme of which Marina is an executive producer:

She also dropped one of the very few mentions of the other person running in the Teluk Intan by-election, Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Kong – because it was only right someone did.

Dyana Sofya herself savvily picked up Marina’s non-endorsement and flipped it into a sneakily-edited RT:

Don’t mess with a Twitter pro, Dyana. You still have a lot to learn.
