Evelyn Ang, the veteran marathon pacer involved in a tragic car collision while racing, has successfully undergone high-risk surgery to stop bleeding from her brain, according to theSun, at Sungai Buloh Hospital. She will now be under vigilant 72-hour observation to monitor her recovery.

A spokesman close to the family told reporters that the four-hour surgery “went well.” Friends, family members and well-wishers are all hoping that she recovers fully from the high-risk surgery.

The accident occurred early Sunday morning, while Ang was running the Klang City International Marathon 2017. Family members have urged all runners who were present to come forward, and give police statements regarding the incident.

The surgery’s success comes hot off the heels of news that marathon organizers did not hold approval from the Sports Commissioner to hold their event, nor was permission granted by local police, nor the local council. Organizers are now contesting this, saying they filled out “relevant paperwork.”

One might imagine that if the shocking side-step of due process were to be true, it will now be examined closely for participant negligence, since those bodies are engaged not just for technical approval, but also to ensure the safety of those involved.

Meanwhile, across social media many sent Ang messages of a speedy recovery and positive thoughts.

We here at Coconuts KL also send our best vibes. Get well soon Ms Ang!
