Man’s robbery spree using toy gun comes to an end

A 22-year-old unemployed man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly robbing 11 convenience stores in Seberang Prai – using a toy gun.

State CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Razarudin Husain @ Abdul Rasid told The Star Online that the suspect was believed to have carried out the crimes alone for the past four months.

The suspect was reportedly picked up from his house at Kampung Alma at 9.30pm, according to SAC Razarudin.

“He usually grabs cigarettes and would sell them to sundry shop owners around Alma.

“We also seized two motorcycles, a helmet, some clothing and a toy gun during the arrest,” he was quoted as saying, adding that the suspect has a criminal record.
