The Times in the UK is reporting that three Malaysian Muslim students may have had their kindness and hospitality taken advantage of by the Manchester suicide bomber Salman Abedi. This comes after the trio, two of whom have been named as Aliff Farhan and Muhd Helmi, were taken into custody by UK authorities who discovered links between them and the terrorist.
The three are attending university in Machester, with two of them medical students.
The Malaysian High Commission in London confirmed this, releasing a short statement saying that, “the students were reportedly taken to the Longsight police station in Manchester at 5.40pm and released at 9pm, on Monday.” No further details were given.
The Times describes Aliff as a cerebral student who is active in Manchester University’s Islamic Society, as well as the Independent School of Free Thinkers, a group that held their open-door discussions at the students’ home. Subjects range from capitalism to literature, and past nights included the topic “Islamo-Nazi fundamentalism and terror that is the biggest threat to the freedom and decency of the world”.
Friends have spoken to the British paper, and attested to the good character and strong work-ethic of the boys. “These students are Malaysians and Malaysians in general tend to be communal,” said one. “If this guy is known locally and went to the mosque nearby, it is possible they have interacted at some point.” The friend went on to admit that Abedi may have abused their charity as Muslims.
Considering that Abedi, the British-born suicide bomber of Libyan descent, was responsible for the 22 deaths of innocent Ariana Grande concert goers after he blew himself up, it’s not really surprising that he’s the kind of human that would take advantage of other’s kindness, and probably the type to use the last of someone else’s milk and not replace it.
