A man, believed to be the main suspect in the shooting of two brothers at a traffic light intersection in Batu Caves recently, has reportedly been shot dead by police.
According to a report by The Star Online‘s Natasha Joibi, the 37-year-old suspect had been sleeping in a Proton Wira — a stolen vehicle — in front of a house at USJ 11/1D around 12.10pm.
“Police approached the car for inspection and showed him their identification cards. The suspect took out a Glock pistol, forcing police to open fire in self-defence,” Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar was quoted as saying.
Police were reportedly tipped off of his presence in the housing area when members of the public informed them of a suspicious-looking vehicle.
According to police, the man had been on the run and has been living in the stolen car since the shooting on June 21.
“He was involved in more than 12 armed robberies. We have been actively hunting him down since the incident. We were able to track him down due to information provided by the public,” DCP Abdul Rahim was quoted further.
