Man receives less than half of his BR1M cash aid

A recipient of a 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) cash aid cheque claimed yesterday that he only received RM300 of the RM650 payment due to him.

The New Straits Times reports Hafizam Harun, 34, of Sungai Petani said he was shocked to find only RM300 banked into his account. The self-employed father of six lodged a complaint with the Inland Revenue Board last month. He received his BR1M payment in February.

An officer informed him that nothing could be done as the payment had already been transferred. Hafizam believed that many others may have been similarly “short-changed”, but have not come forward to air their complaints.

He also expressed concern over the “possible misuse of funds by those administering the payments”.

“I want to question the payment made as rightfully, I am entitled to RM650, but I only received RM300, which is actually the amount for those who are those in the single category.”

Hafizam, who is also Badan Amal Tarbiah Sejagat (BATAS) supreme council member, said those who did not get the full amount of BR1M should complain to BATAS or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
