Man loses car to ‘tow truck drivers’ after minor fender bender

A man suffered a double blow when his car was driven away by two men posing as tow truck drivers after a minor fender bender.

According to a report by Metro Ahad, as translated by The Star Online, the incident occured along Jalan Syed Putra at around 10.30pm on Friday.

The motorist, identified as 40-year-old Cheah, had reportedly rear-ended a Perodua Kenari and had stopped by the roadside to inspect the damage.

While Cheah was talking to the other driver, two men approached Cheah on a motorcycle and claimed to be workers from a towing company.

“They told me that their friend would come and help tow my car to the workshop,” he was quoted by the daily as saying.

According to Cheah, one of the men got behind the wheel on the pretext of checking the car’s condition.

The man then allegedly closed the door and sped off.

The other man, meanwhile, got on the motorcycle and sped off.

Cheah later lodged a police report.
