A 35-year-old has reportedly been sentenced to 40 months in jail for possessing counterfeit money as well as items related to the Islamic State terror network.
The Star Online reports that graphic designer Muhammad Saiful Hashim, admitted to the charges before Judicial Commissioner Ab Karim Ab Rahman.
“The court sees this as a serious offence. Only a prison sentence is suitable,” the judge was quoted as saying, adding that although the accused did not intend to be directly involved with the group, he ‘may one day think of joining them’.
Saiful pleaded guilty to having a sticker with an IS logo and a photograph with weapons and an IS flag, as well as to having six counterfeit RM10 notes, the news site reported.
The items were reportedly discovered in his house in Kangar on March 22.
