Man dies after car crash on Penang Bridge throws him off

A man was thrown off the Penang Bridge yesterday morning after a car he was travelling was involved in a collision.

During the 5am incident, the victim, in his 30s, was in a Proton Iswara with four others when it skidded and hit the left wall of the bridge.

Perai Fire and Rescue Department operations commander, Senior Fire Officer II Nasir Idris said the victim, believed to have been sitting in the front passenger seat, was thrown out of the car and over the bridge, falling five metres to the ground below.

The victim’s remains were found on the ground near the U-turn under the bridge.

“The victim died on the spot while the others were slightly injured and sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment,” Bernama quotes Nasir as saying.
