It’s a tale as old as time: boy meets girl (on Facebook), girl asks for a a video sex chat (on Skype), boy gets blackmailed over his naked webcam footage.
A 28-year old salesman was led to a very compromising situation after he made the acquaintance of a woman on Facebook.
The victim, who identified himself only as Ng, said he met “Mayumi Chua” on FB on Monday.
“She just popped up on my Facebook chat and wanted to be friends. She claimed to be an Indonesian working in Europe,” he said during a press conference organised by Perak MCA Public Service and Complaints Bureau chief Jimmy Loh in Ipoh, The Star Online‘s Ivan Loh reports.
“I’m a salesman, I am used to adding new ‘friends’ so I could sell my products to them.”
Ng said that after chatting on Facebook Messenger with Mayumi for about 40 minutes, she asked him for his Skype contact to continue their conversation on video.
Almost immediately after they began their video chat, Mayumi began to strip and pleasure himself in full view of Ng.
That’s when things took a turn for the mysterious worse for Ng.
“I lost consciousness soon after and woke up the next day to find that she had sent me a video of me naked and performing some lewd acts that I have no recollection of,” he claimed.
“She wanted RM4,000 from me and only gave me 30 minutes to make the transaction but I don’t have that kind of money,” he added.
Soon after, he saw that videos of him during the sex chat had been posted to his friends’ Facebook accounts.
“She uploaded four video clips and also shared them on my friends’ Facebook page,” he said.
“Honestly, I’m not entirely sure if the girl in the photo is even the one I saw in the video chat. Her face was blurred and she was only showing her body,” he added.
Ng said that his family (and girlfriend) had already been informed of the embarrassing incident, and that he had deactivated his Facebook account.
He had also lodged reports on the matter with the police and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission.
