On Sunday, a 22-year-old PJ man turned up at the Jalan Seri Taming apartment of a woman he had met over WeChat, the social media mobile app, expecting a bit of seksi time. Wink.
What happened was a beating, and later extortion, at the hands of several men and the complicit woman.
The Star reports that initially, the man had no suspicions, as the woman invited him in and told him to take a shower. However, soon after, 6 men burst into the room with weapons and accused the man of raping the 20-year-old woman. She also corroborated their accusation of rape. They then demanded that the man strip off his clothes, while filming the incident on their mobile phones.
They demanded RM40,000 (US$9,300), or they would spread the video, and the claim that he had raped the woman. The also took the belongings that he had with him, totaling in value of over RM8,000 (US$1,865).
A friend of the victim was sent the compromising video, and a ransom was demanded. Police added that in the end, no money was paid to the gang, and the man was released.
Four men and the woman were arrested by Kajang police yesterday in Bandar Kinrara. Two of the suspects tested positive for drugs, although none of the group had any previous police records.
Remember kids, social media isn’t real. Don’t meet with strangers in unsafe places, and also seksi time is rarely no-strings-attached.
