A Miri man is under arrest for murder after police happened to stumble upon the suspect at the very moment he was attempting to dispose of the victim’s body in a rural area yesterday.
Seeing the police patrol car, the suspect attempted to flee the scene, and a five-kilometer car chase ensued. It didn’t end well for our alleged murderer, as police caught up with him, along with a dead body in the trunk of his car.
Authorities believe the body to be that of the 13-year-old daughter of the man’s girlfriend, who had been staying with the suspect, along with her older sister. The four were living in Kuala Baram, approximately 20km north of Miri, Sarawak.
A patrol unit was driving near a forested area in Kuala Baram at 5:55pm when officers noticed a car stopped on the side of the road, with the trunk open. Seeing the 5-0, the man slammed it shut, and sped off, with a chase ensuing.
Initial findings indicate that the girl was murdered elsewhere before her body was transported. Officials added that there are marks on her neck consistent with strangulation.
