A man died after he reportedly fell off a moving lorry with a rope around his neck on Thursday.
The Star Online reports that the incident happened at around 3.45pm when the vehicle was approaching the Prai Industrial Zone in Butterworth.
Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ros Azhan told the news portal that the 35-year-old lorry attendant and the driver were on their way to deliver some goods.
The victim allegedly tied a rope to the passenger grab handle and tied the other end around his neck before falling out the lorry, said ACP Nik Ros.
“Preliminary investigations showed that he started work with a freight company in Bayan Lepas three days ago.
“He had told the lorry driver earlier that he wanted to die, but the driver thought he was joking,” he was quoted as saying.
ACP Nik Ros added that the victim’s wife told the police that three years ago, her husband had undergone treatment at the psychiatric hospital in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak.
The police have reportedly ruled out foul play and classified the case as sudden death.
