A 62-year-old man was reportedly beaten to death by a group of men over unpaid debts in Perak yesterday.
The horrible incident took place at Kampung Rapat at 7.30pm, the New Straits Times’ Sylvia Looi reports, after the senior citizen was set upon and taken by the gang from a restaurant.
According to District police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong, who was quoted in the report, the man’s 46-year-old wife witnessed her husband being pushed into a Perodua Alza.
Attempts to contact him through his mobile phone failed, Sum said, adding that the victim was taken to a house in Tambun and beaten up.
“The suspects later sent the victim to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun on May 20 but he died several hours later,” he was quoted as saying.
Blunt force trauma to the head was recorded as the cause of death.
Cops initially arrested the man’s wife and his 23-year-old son but they have been released on police bail.
“The second arrest involved five locals including a 39-year-old woman. They are being remanded until Monday,” Sum told the NST.
