Malindo Air flight forced to make emergency landing in Bangkok

A Kuala Lumpur-bound Malindo air flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok after the cabin began to de-pressurise.

An AFP report quotes an airline spokesman suggesting that what happen on flight OD206 from Delhi could have been a result of leaking oxygen from the fuselage.

“A slow decompression was detected by the pilot. In our case, oxygen masks were deployed as a precautionary measure according to SOP (standard operating procedure),” the spokesman was quoted as saying. 

According to the report, 121 passengers and crew had been on board the Boeing 737-900ER aircraft was due to arrive in KL early Monday.

The Star Online meanwhile, reports that the technical glitch that occurred is being investigated while the airline has submitted reports of the incident to the relevant parties.

The airline issues a statement saying tha the flight was meant to arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) at 5.25am but landed safely in Bangkok at 2.25am. 

“The passengers are being taken care of by Thai Lion Air and arrangements to put them on another flight to Kuala Lumpur at 3.45pm (4.45pm Malaysian time) are already under way,” it said in the statement as reported by the daily.
