Malaysia’s women’s bowling team have just been crowned world champions

Malaysia’s women’s bowling team were crowned world champions in Las Vegas Sunday night, bringing home the kingpin glory.

Making the victory ever sweeter was the fact that they beat-out our across-the-Causeway rivals, Singapore, in the finals in both sets 214-209 and 188-177.

Shalin Zulkifli, Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman, Sin Li Jane, Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi and Natasha Roslan were able to bring back the title after having lost it at the 2007 world championships in Mexico. It is Malaysia’s third world championship victory, having also won the title in 2003 when the event was hosted in Kuala Lumpur.

Later today the final portion of the tournament, the Masters, will take place. Shalin, Li Jane, and Siti Safiyah have all qualified, along with Ahman Muaz Fishol.
