Malaysia’s teen ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ arrested in Malacca

This would make an excellent ‘knock knock’ joke.

The previous three times, the couple would knock on doors of unsuspecting victims to ask for help, before brandishing machetes and robbing them.

The fourth time, the joke was on them.

According to a report by The Star Online, police have arrested a gang of five armed robbers, led by a newlywed couple aged 16 and 17, after they fell into a police trap while attempting another robbery.

Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Sampornak Ismail told The Star that the gang’s modus operandi was to knock on the doors of their victims, pretending to ask for help.

“Once the victims let them into their homes, the couple would signal three accomplices who would storm in with machetes,” he said, adding that the police set up a special team codenamed Ops Couple to track the gang, which has been active since January.

Sampornak also added that in all three cases – victims were senior citizens and foreign workers in the small town of Merlimau –  the gang would tie up their victims and runsack their homes.

The gang was caught while attempting to rob a workers’ hostel in Serkam on 4 May.
