Malaysia’s government ranked world’s 8th most efficient

Surprise, surprise: Malaysia’s Federal Government has been ranked the world’s 8th mosr efficient administration in a new international report. 

The World Economic Forum (WEF) in its latest report places Putrajaya in 8th place on a global scale, beating even the governments of Switzerland and Luxembourg, which were ranked 9th and 10th in the world, respectively. 

The report ranked the Qtari government as the most efficient in the world, followed by Singapore’s in second place and Finland’s in third. 

The world’s most inefficient government was determined to be that of Venezuela, which sits at the bottom of the list, below similarly-poor administrations such as Italy, Argentina, Lebanon, Libya and Croatia. 

In tallying its global rankings, the WEF evaluates the efficiency and competitiveness of 144 of the world’s governments, based on criteria such as wastefulness of government spending, burden of regulation and transparency of policy-making.
