Malaysia’s first halal ‘get a soulmate camp’ promises to teach you to love yourself and find The One

Lonely halal hearts need not feel the emptiness any longer. Gone are the days of meaningless flirtations between earnest women looking for love, and the otherwise married men making them promises they can’t keep.

There’s now a one-day camp dedicated to finding you legit love, but only if you’re a Muslim, and only if you’re willing to listen to the advice of other people before you get to the speed dating part.

Kem Dapat Jodoh (get a soulmate camp) also wants to teach you how to be prepared physically, mentally and financially before you find The One. They’ll also help with that with the aforementioned speed dating. All of it can happen in a day. Ain’t no task too big for its founder, Nor Daayah Abdullah.

If her teh tarik seems to come with a side of jaded and hint of “get to the point,” it might be because Nor has frustratingly spent the last year since her husband’s death meeting a host of scoundrels.

“I have joined several online dating groups and many have portrayed themselves as single when, in fact, they were not.”

Gurl, welcome to 2018: If he’s over a certain age, got his sh*t together, looks good, smells good, and knows how to treat a lady … it’s probably because his wife has taught him well. (JOKES! Kinda?)

Nur is now hoping that her year of taking Ls is about to turn around into wins for other hopeful singles, who can find a “genuine life partner without being scammed.”

Her solution of a Muslim-focused love camp will attempt to kill two birds with one stone: teach those in attendance some moral guidelines before taking the plunge (AM sesh), and then later match them with their soulmate (PM sesh, natch).

The reaction on social media has been very tongue in cheek, with some social media users asking If their moral platform has had clearance from the Islamic Affairs office, JAKIM, to reminding them to get their permits in order. No event is too big to not fall victim to the last-minute cancelations that have plagued other organizers in the past. (Sorry, Ke$ha)

Either way, we’re game for this. Coconuts KL is always in the market for #lovetips – halal or not – we’re all ears. Stay tuned.
